Ezinne Gold Obinnaya Egege

The death has been announced of Ezinne Gold Obinnaya Egege (nee Ahuchuogu), aged 68 years.

She was the mother-in-law of the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, FCA.

A statement signed by the Deputy Governor’s father-in-law, Sir Ishmael Egege, stated that the deceased died on the 30th of October, 2022 after a brief illness.

According to the statement, the remains of the deceased would be buried on Friday, October 6, 2023 after a funeral service at St. John’s Anglican Church, Ntiagha-Uzo, Isi-Ahaba Autonomous Community, Amuka, Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.

The Senior Special Assistant (Media), Comrade Fidelis Egugbo, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Asaba, said that Sir Onyeme was shocked by the passage of his mother-in-law.

According to him, the death occurred at the heat of the campaign for the 2023 general elections and the deputy governor has expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, political leaders, friends and family members who rallied round him when the deceased passed on few months to the general elections and are still with him as they prepare for the burial.

“Her death was devastating to members of her family, especially, our Deputy Governor as she was a regular visitor to his home to see her daughter and grand-children.

“Sir Onyeme described his mother-in-law as a loving mother who showed love to him and his children and called on his friends and family members to join him at the burial ceremony on Thursday, 5th October and  Friday, October 6, 2023 at Ntiagha-Uzo, Isi-Ahaba Autonomous Community, Amuka, Isiala-Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State,”  Egugbo said.

Late Egege is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren and other family members.
